Tasting Notes
The Val do Salnes sub-Santa region’s Maria vineyard is where wine grapes are obtained. The grapes are located on top of a hill about four or five kilometres from the sea, giving them a definite marine impact in combination with sandy, granite soils. The fermentation is not temperature-controlled and is initiated with local yeasts. The wine is aged on its lees for 12 months in a stainless steel tank after fermentation. 15% of old albario is added to the blend just before bottling. Tropical stone fruits that are ripe, flowery notes like jasmine, vanilla, white tea, and oxidation akin to a sherry note, all have a robust, intense mouthfeel. A saline aftertaste and salivating acidity complete the flavour. similar to sea salt with lemon.
